About the Gurudwara:-

The Hazur Sahib Gurudwara located in Nanded, on the banks of river Godavari, is one of the five takhts in Sikhism. The Gurudwara within the complex is known as Sach-Khand. It is a domecd Gurudwara complex built in 1837 which also has rooms for the pilgrims to reside. The Gurudwara is simply beautiful as it has a marble verandah and a lush green garden. Every devotee feels peace and the spiritual power when visiting the shrine.Once you enter the premises, you would not believe that you are in Maharashtra, but it will feel like you have already entered Punjab! The place is just 3 kilometers away from the Nanded station and easily accessible. If you want to stay in one of the rooms, you have to contact the Gurudwara Management trust. There are early morning and evening prayers, follwed by kirtans and then the lazer show in the evening. The lazer show is a must watch which is scheduled every evenind after 7:45 pm, which provides the brief history about all the 10 Sikh Gurus. The best part about this place is , you can visit anytime no matter what the season is!

You should definitely visit this holy shrine when in Nanded and also eat a meal in the 'langar' served after 10:30 everyday, or you can offer voluntary services to serve food to the people sitting in the 'Guru ki Langar'. Also, have a taste of the delicious kadha prashad and 'aate ka halwa' ( halwa made up of flour) loaded with ghee! They also pack and give you delicious parathas for your train journey upon request.

The structure of the shrine is beautifully built with white marbles and there are intricate floral patterns on the inner walls. The inner room called the Angitha Sahib is covered with golden palates. The shrine is artistically similar to that of the Harmandir Sahib Gurudwara in Amritsar. The inner rooms also keep all the weapons used by sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The thing you have to keep in mind before visiting the shrine is that, you must have a handkerchief, scarf or any type of headwear to cover your head while seeking blessings (it is mandatory). Without your head covered, you will not be allowed to enter the temple.
