Wine tasting tour at Sula Vineyards Nashik:

Gat 36/2, Govardhan Village, Off, Gangapur-Savargaon Rd, Nashik, Maharashtra 422222

Sula vineyards is a  winery located in the Nashik region of western Maharashtra. It was founded by Rajeev Samant in 1998. The staff at the winery provide you with a tour of the place where grapes are grown and how the wine is made. you also get to taste 6 different types of wines. However you must be 18 years and above of age. This wine tasting is certainly not for free and comes with an entry fee of 250 INR per person. The place opens from 11;30 am for tourists.

Getting There: The winery is located 3 to 3.5 hours from Mumbai. I recommend to leave home by 8 am or 8:30 so you can reach there at 11:30 or 11:45 am approximately. You can definitely spend your day there by touring the place and wine tasting. This palce also sells grape brandy  and grape seed oil. It also has rooms for boutique guest accomodations however if you read the reviews of the hotel rooms on booking websites like makemytrip or tripadvisor you will come across some negative opinions about them. There is also Soma vine village just a few meteres away from this property.

Restaurants:- There is a rooftop restaurant at this property. Also it has the famous italian restaurant called Little Italy (which also has several branches is Pune) and lastly there is the Soma restaurant which serves India food. We chose to go to the Soma restaurant which is adjacent to the main building and had starters and sparkling guava and peach flavored white wine.

The prices of wines Red wines in particular cost around 650 INR. While a decently good bottle may cost 1000 to 1500 INR. Some wines can cost upto 6000 INR. If you do not want to buy a whole bottle you can also have a glass of wine at one of the restaurants at the property. A rare white wine can cost upto 8$ in India.

Best time to visit:- The best time to visit the vineyards is during the harvesting season in India that is between January to March as you can participate in the wine stomping activity and can experience the SULA Music concert which is held in the month of February.

You can also book private wine tours online which start from 10000 INR average per person. I would personally recommend visitng in February as it is the grape picking season. Do not expect much from the wine making tours as they show you all the non working machines or the containers where the wine is stored. This is the negative point about the whole tour as you may not get to see actual working machines. There are also less transport options to get in the actual property so I think you should get your own car to reach there for your convenience and I would recommend tasting thw wine kebabs. There is also a souvenir shop where you can buy wine bottles at a discounted price. Wines are available at 15% discounted price on mrp. Overall it is a good way to spend half of your day. You can skip the factory tour but should definitely join the wine tasting. After all which wine lover would miss an opportunity to taste 6 wines at a time?
